On the afternoon of April 1st, the “The sound moved Taizhou, Be Closed to the World” , Chinese Singing contest for foreigners in Taizhou was held in the theatre of art building of Taizhou University. This activity is jointly organized by Taizhou Municipal People’s Government Foreign Affairs Office and Taizhou University. Zhang Zhaoyang, director of Foreign Affairs Office of Taizhou Municipal People’s Government, Zhao Yunyan, standing member of the University Party Committee and Vice president of Taizhou University, and distinguished guests from education Bureau, Literary and art Federation, Musicians Association and Foreign Affairs Office of each district (city) attended the activity.
The contest started in enthusiastic singing and dancing “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”. After director Zhang Zhaoyang delivered the opening speech, more than 10 foreigners from the United States, Russia, Indonesia, Jamaica, Ghana and other countries in Taizhou performed the well-known songs such as “I Love You China”, “I Believe”, “Torch of Torch Festival” and “Childhood”. After the wonderful competition, Sima, the vocal music teacher of Taizhou University, won the first prize of this contest by performing the Chinese folk song “Torch of Torch Festival”with the combination skill of bel Canto and Chinese folk song singing.
In this contest, the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of Taizhou University coordinated the teachers and students of Foreign Languages, College Students Art Center, School of Music, Security Department and other departments, undertook the organization, hosting, translation, reception, service and security work, which made the activity successfully concluded.
At present, nearly 700 foreigners are working, studying and living in Taizhou. In order to let foreigners in Taizhou integrate into Taizhou better and fall in love with Taizhou, Taizhou Municipal People’s Government Foreign Affairs Office created the “Friendly Taizhou” brand activity. The contest marked the beginning of the in-depth cooperation between Taizhou Municipal People’s Government Foreign Affairs Office and Taizhou University, which improved the ability of foreign affairs communication and service and the university’s level of serving local development.(International Cooperation and Exchange Department, Foreign Languages School)
